Nu kommer Android med raketfart

Ibland kommer det tillfällen när man som entreprenör plötsligt ser något nytt och blir fängslad av det och det är precis vad jag blivit av Android av flera anledningar. Android är ett OS som i första hand är utvecklat för mobiler och det är Linux i botten som kör Java. Här är sagan om hur Android kom till.

Mobilmarknaden för Android växer med raketfart, senaste tiden med 886% och det kommer förmodligen öka i takt med att flera mobiltillverkare kommer med flera nya mobiler till plattformen.

Så här säger Wikipedia i skrivande stund om den största marknaden (USA):

According to NPD Group, unit sales for Android OS smartphones ranked first among all smartphone OS handsets sold in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2010, at 33%.^[5]^[6] BlackBerry OS is second at 28%, and iOS is ranked third with 22%.^[7]

Vad jag förstått börjar det se lika ut i Europa också och det gör Android till den största plattformen ju nu. Det här är verkligen godis för oss entreprenörer eftersom plattformen erbjuder redan idag hundratals miljoner människor och det kommer säkert växa till över miljarder med dagens utvecklingstakt.

Det mest fängslande med Android är det faktumet att det är en relativt fri plattform och att den utvecklas under ”Open Source” licenser vilket borgar för en öppen och flexibel marknad. Det blir väldigt intressant med just Android Market som huserar alla applikationer man kan installera och som i dagsläget bara har hälften av vad Iphones appstore har. Men det kommer nog skifta ganska snabbt till att bli betydligt större när väl Android Market öppnar med betalfunktioner i fler länder.

Allt som sker just nu har vi Apple att tacka för med Iphone som för flera år sedan visade vägen hur en smartphone bör fungera för att vara enkel att använda. Men tyvärr upprepar nog sig historien från början 90-talet då Apple var stora och sen förlorade marknaden. Antagligen sker samma fenomen igen, Apple innoverar men förlorar i långa loppet med nu till förmån för Android. Förhoppningsvis kommer de fortsätta innovera och tilltala designers och grafiker vilket borde hålla dom över ytan trots Androids framfart.

Jag kommer i alla fall sätta fokus på den här nya marknaden kring smartphones och har redan en massa idéer som jag kommer investera i.

Fakta om: Facebook Gilla/Like-knapp och personlig integritet

Facebook har nu rullat ut nya funktioner (den 21 april på F8, Facebook konferens) för att alla sajter ska kunna inkluderas och kategoriseras i den sociala grafen. Facebook har nu 400 miljoner medlemmar och det fortsätter att öka så det är ett riktigt spännande, vågat och framtidsinspirerat steg till att göra webben semantisk och mer personlig.

Spännande
Det är spännande därför att det är något nytt som skulle kunna förbättra vårt sätt att använda webben
Vågat
Det är vågat för att det kan skapa nya problem kring säkerhet, men speciellt kring den personliga integriteten
Framtidsinspererat
Det är framtidsinspirerat för att vi vill att webben ska servera innehåll som är relevant för dig och mig vilket det här kan göra med hjälp av det nätverk av kontakter du har på Facebook

Gilla/Like-knappen
Det stora nyheten är ”Gilla” eller ”Like”-knappen som gör det busenkelt för både sajtägare och besökare att använda funktionen. När en besökare trycker på ”Gilla”-knappen (som finns i lite olika utföranden med Facebook’s logo) så är avsikten att innehållet associerat med knappen ska komma upp på sin nyhetsvägg för alla sina vänner inuti Facebook.

Facebook vill att så många sajter som möjligt lägger upp den här knappen eftersom det gör Facebook mer värdefull att använda samtidigt som att det även ger mer trafik till det innehåll som besökare gillar. I princip är ”Gilla”-knappen en konkurrerande funktion till Googles sök eftersom många kommer spendera mer tid att titta igenom sina vänners nyhetsflöden (saker de gillat) och mindre tid till att söka information i Google.

Glöm din personliga integritet
Facebook har gjort det tydligt att det här handlar om ”öppen” information, det är därför man kallar det den öppna grafen av strukturerad information. Det kanske inte är så uppenbart, men det betyder också att allt du gör som berör Facebook kommer att hamna i den öppna grafen och tillgänglig för andra att ta del av. Det mesta är öppet för alla om du inte uttryckligen har ändrat inställningarna, du måste ändra säkerhetsinställningar i Facebook för den information du vill begränsa spridning av. Men var uppmärksam på att Facebook kanske ändrar dina inställningar så att uppgifter publiceras genom förändringar i deras system.

Merparten av besökare på en sida har inte den fördjupande kunskapen om vad som händer med information du lägger upp på Facebook. Men nu handlar det inte bara om Facebook längre, utan vad du även gör på andra sajter som t.ex. om du klickar på en ”Gilla” knapp. Faktum är att allt du gillat kommer att göras tillgänglig i den öppna grafen och därmed också tillgängligt för andra att ta del av. Det kanske inte låter så farligt, men låt mig konkretisera det med några riktiga exempel på vad som antingen redan hänt eller går att göra idag:

Du gillar en artikel i Expressen om ett barn som dött i en svår sjukdom, på ditt nyhetsflöde i Facebook står det ”Nisse gillar 3 åring dog i svår hudsjukdom”. Det är bara det att du har aldrig sett eller surfat in på den artikeln. Förmodligen har du tidigare varit på en sajt som gillat artikeln åt dig eftersom man kan ändra url (adressen man gillar) till facebook-knappen. När du klickar vet du alltså inte om det är artikeln/inlägget du läser som hamnar på Facebook och alla dina vänner
Du gillar ett foruminlägg om graviditet på Familjeliv i en tråd som du själv svarat i, för du vet ju att din alias du har där är skild från den personen som du är på Facebook så ingen vet vilka svar som kommer från just dig. Det är bara det att med hjälp av annan information i den öppna grafen (t.ex. var du bor, musikintressen, ålder, utbildning etc) är det inte svårt för någon att koppla ihop din anonyma alias med vem du är som person på Facebook. Du tror att du kan vara anonym på andra sajter, men så fort du klickar på ”Gilla”-knappen så blir du identifierad på ett eller annat sätt.
Du har ändrat inställningarna i Facebook att inte dela viss information med andra än dina vänner för du vill inte sprida din persona och vad du gör för alla på nätet. Plötsligt upptäcker du att alla dina uppgifter som du valt att ha skyddat ändå är sökbara i Google (exempel 1, exempel 2 osv) trots att du uttryckligen valt att inte ha det så.
Du surfar in på sajt A och gillar en och annan länk, när du surfar in på sajt B får den sajten tillgång till allt du gillat från sajt A och kan publicera det under förutsättning att du installerat appen (medvetet eller omedvetet). Faktum är det att vad du än gör som berör Facebook (gilla, dela, skaffa vänner) på andra sajter kommer Facebook-anslutna appar/sajter ta del av direkt när du surfar in där.

Allt det här är på både gott och ont, det goda är att vi får mer relevant och personlig information på webben, men med det onda att det är på bekostnad av vår personliga integritet.

24 timmars regeln
En annan viktig förändring var att Facebook ändrade sin policy att information du som sajtägare inhämtar från Facebook från den öppna sociala grafen får du nu spara längre än 24 timmar. Tidigare var det så att man tilläts spara inforamtionen tillfälligt i form av en ”cache” men nu innebär det att du skulle kunna kopiera hela profilinformationen från en användare och komplettera konton med den informationen på andra sajter. Man går från sin tidigare centraliserade modell av social information till att istället bli exportören av information. Det är en ganska stor förändring som naturligtvis gör Facebook mer öppen, förmodligen var det därför man nu kallar det den ”öppna” sociala grafen.

Nu har Facebook blivit en ”öppen” strukturerad databas med personlig information som sprids okontrollerat till andra över hela internet.

Globe Forum i Stockholm

Jag fick äran att deltaga på Globe Forum här i Stockholm i dagarna vilket var väldigt intressant. Så därför tänkte jag delge lite av vad som försiggår ute i världen kring hållbar energi/företagande.

Mina favoritämnen på konferensen handlade om smartgrid, innovationer och nanoteknik. Många intressanta talare och teman var på agendan. Här till höger talade Maud [...]
